Terms of Service

Last updated: August 6, 2026

Before publishing: this is a first draft, not legal advice - have it reviewed before treating it as binding. Paleonyx isn't a registered legal entity yet (no LLC/corp), just a trade name - registering it as a DBA with the Ohio Secretary of State would make this cleaner.

These terms govern your use of Linkloom, operated by Timothy Crabtree, doing business as Paleonyx ("Paleonyx," "we," "us"). By creating an account, you agree to them.

Who can use Linkloom

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for what happens under your account.

What Linkloom is

Linkloom is a personal knowledge management and task tool: capture notes and links, manage tasks, and connect them visually on a board. We may add, change, or remove features over time, including introducing advertising to support the free tier - any ads will be small and never full-screen or interrupt your use of the app.

Your content

You own what you create in Linkloom. We don't claim ownership of your notes, tasks, or attachments. By storing content in Linkloom, you give us the limited permission needed to save, back up, sync, and display it back to you - and, if you choose to use them, to pass the specific content you select through Google's Gemini API for cloud AI features. We don't use your content to train any models, and we don't share it with anyone except as described in the Privacy Policy.

You're responsible for what you store in Linkloom. Don't use it to store or share anything illegal, or content you don't have the right to store.

Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Try to bypass rate limiting, bot protection, or other abuse-prevention measures.
  • Access another user's account or data without permission.
  • Use Linkloom to send spam, or to store or distribute malware.
  • Attempt to disrupt or overload the service.
  • Create multiple accounts to evade a suspension.

Third-party services

Some features rely on outside services - Google (sign-in, Calendar), Google Gemini (cloud AI, if you enable it), Resend (email delivery), and Cloudflare (hosting). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' own terms. We're not responsible for their availability or behavior.

Account termination

You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. We can suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, including abuse of sign-up, rate limits, or other users. We'll try to give notice where practical, but may act immediately for serious abuse.

No warranty

Linkloom is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it reliable and your data intact - and we build real safeguards for that (soft delete, a full data export you can run any time) - but we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times, and we recommend keeping your own copy of anything critical.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Linkloom and Paleonyx aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data, even if we've been advised of the possibility. This is a service run by a single developer without a dedicated support or legal team - please plan accordingly for anything you can't afford to lose.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Linkloom after a change means you accept the update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
