FAQ

Questions people actually ask

If something's missing here, the fastest way to get an answer is to email support@paleonyx.com directly - there's a real person on the other end.

The basics

What is Linkloom, exactly?

A capture tool and a task manager in one place, connected on a visual board. Save a link, a photo, a note, or a task the moment you have it - no folder to choose first - then turn anything into a task when it actually needs a due date, and see how it all relates to everything else you've saved.

Is it free?

Yes. Linkloom is free to use, supported by a small, unobtrusive ad - never full-screen, never interrupting what you're doing. No credit card to sign up.

Who makes this?

Linkloom is built and run by a single developer, not a company with a support team behind it. That's on purpose - it's a big part of why the app stays simple instead of accumulating features nobody asked for. See the Terms of Service for the specifics.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet - it's in progress, starting with Android and then iOS once that's further along. There's no firm release date yet. The web app works fine on a phone browser in the meantime, and your account will carry over to the native apps once they exist.

Your data

Do I own what I put into Linkloom?

Yes, entirely. We don't claim ownership of your notes, tasks, or attachments, and we don't use your content to train any models. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

Can I get my data out?

Any time, in full - export everything to JSON, CSV, or Markdown from within the app. No waiting period, no support ticket required.

What happens when I delete something?

It moves to Trash, not gone. Deleting is a safety net, not a countdown - nothing disappears by accident because of a stray click.

What if I want to stop using Linkloom?

Export your data, then delete your account any time by contacting support@paleonyx.com.

Features

Do I have to use AI features?

No - AI is off by default. When you do turn it on, you choose between fully on-device suggestions or cloud AI using your own API key. Nothing about your account requires it.

Can I connect Claude or another AI assistant to my Linkloom?

Yes. Linkloom supports MCP, so an MCP-capable assistant can search, create, and update items in your account directly, with your own sign-in and consent.

How do recurring tasks work?

Set a due date, a priority, and a repeat rule - daily, specific weekdays, monthly, whatever the task needs. Complete it and the next occurrence is scheduled automatically; you never re-create a recurring task by hand.

Does it sync with my calendar?

Optionally, yes - connect Google Calendar and your task due dates show up there too.

What's "the board," really?

A visual corkboard where you can drag any two saved items together and connect them - this article relates to that task, this note led to that decision. Items sharing a tag connect automatically. Zoom out and you can see the actual shape of what you're working on, not just a list of files in a folder.

Can I change how it looks?

There are nine themes, from a warm manila corkboard look to a green CRT terminal. Pick whichever one feels like your desk.
